Depending on your return on ad spend (ROAS) or cost per acquisition (CPA) goals, Maximizing Conversions can be an excellent way to obtain as many conversions as possible while efficiently spending your daily budget in its entirety. Maximize Conversions automates bid adjustments to capitalize on conversion opportunities, which can be useful for those seeking to optimize their campaigns with a hands-off approach and a focus on conversion volume.
However, Maximize Conversions is not without risk, as it may be more likely to spend your entire daily budget, even if that leads to a higher cost per click than desired.
To use the Maximize Conversions bidding strategy, you must first have conversion tracking set up and a clear understanding of the value of each type of conversion for your business. You should also be comfortable with Google making ad placement decisions and with losing control of individual bids. It is recommended that you use this smart bidding strategy in conjunction with the Enhanced CPC strategy, which strikes a balance between automation and manual input.
With Enhanced CPC, you can still make manual changes to your bids, but you can also specify maximum bid limits and a target cost-per-acquisition (CPA) goal. The Enhanced CPC algorithm will then automatically adjust your bids in order to maximize conversions while staying within your specified limit. Using this strategy will allow you to balance your conversion volume with a desired level of quality, as well as gain some control over ad placement decisions.
If you’re looking for a more hands-on approach, you can try the Target CPA bidding strategy. The tCPA algorithm will automatically adjust your bids to generate as many conversions as possible at a target CPA, based on data from across your advertising channels. However, the tCPA algorithm will not be able to analyze data from your other advertising channels or adjust your bids in real time, like it can with Maximize Conversions.
Maximize Conversions is a great choice for those with an established ecommerce business with products and services that have clear conversion value. This bidding strategy focuses on obtaining as many conversions as possible and will prioritize users who are more likely to complete a purchase. This strategy can be particularly effective in the bottom of the funnel (BoFu) stage, where prospective customers have engaged with your middle-of-funnel content and are actively considering a purchase decision.
Despite its advantages, Maximize Conversions can be difficult to manage, especially for newer advertisers or those with limited time and resources. The key to success is regular monitoring and optimization, which can include ad creative and landing page testing to ensure that the messages in your ads are aligned with the messages on your website.
It is also important to regularly review performance metrics, conversion data, and other KPIs for opportunities to improve your campaign’s performance. In this way, you can ensure that your Maximize Conversions strategy is working as effectively as possible for your business.
